Sargodha Mourns: Nazir Masih laid to rest
Sargodha: A Christian man namely, Nazir Masih (alias Lazar Masih) who was rescued by police from a lynch mob in Sargodha on 25th May has succumbed to his injuries and laid to rest at Mujahid Colony, Sargodha. The victim, who was accused of desecration, was attacked by a mob who also targeted the homes of other minority community members in Mujahid Colony.
The funeral service was offered by Pastor Khuram, Pastor Iqbal & Pastor Afzal from the local community. Fr. Waqas Mubarak from St. Francis Xavier Parish, University Road Sargodha and Fr. Shahzar Awaiz from St. Padre Pio Parish, Gozan Town Sargodha also attend the funeral representing the Catholic Church.

As per hospital sources, the deceased underwent two surgeries, but did not recover from the injuries inflicted on his head. The postmortem of the deceased has been conducted and he was buried today.
The incident took place on May 25 in Sargodha after an angry mob tortured Masih for alleged blasphemy. The police had registered a terrorism case against 44 nominated and 300/400 unidentified suspects, with over 100 arrests made. However, a blasphemy case was also registered against the Christian man, which has been widely condemned by human rights groups and the local Christian community.
