Public Masses to resume officially in the Churches of Archdiocese of Lahore
Lahore (Suzanna Joseph): Archbishop Sebastian Francis Shaw has announced that the faithful will attend Masses again from August 15, 2020. He announced in a message after daily Mass on July 31, 2020 at Archbishop’s House Chapel, Lahore.
Here is the complete text of Archbishop’s speech:
“To curb the impact of Corona virus, all churches discontinued regular Holy Mass since March 15, 2020. However, considering the importance of the month of August, it has been decided that all the Churches under the archdiocese of Lahore will resume masses. Since 14th of August is Independence Day followed by the Assumption of Mary on the 15th of August, it is requested that we all rigorously recite the rosary petitioning for an end to Covid-19. I have faith in the strength of fasting and rosary that God will grant us this favour. We will celebrate the Holy Mass followed by crowning of Our Lady on August 15 with our full religious sprite at the grotto of the Cathedral. Then, we’ll start regular Masses in our churches from August 16. To mind government SOPs and to avoid an excessive number of communicants, we can offer consecutive Masses and the maximum time for each Mass will not be more than 45 minutes. May God protect you all and keep all of us safe from coronavirus”
