Archbishop Travas Leads Prayer Service for Pope Francis
Lahore (Sunil Benyamin): On Thursday, April 24, a special prayer service was held at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Lahore to commemorate the soul of Pope Francis. The service, led by His Grace Archbishop Benny Mario Travas, brought together a large gathering of clergy, religious, and faithful from various Christian denominations.
The congregation included priests, sisters, catechists, and pastors from the Church of Pakistan and the United Presbyterian Church, who came together to pay their respects to the late Pope. During the service, the Archbishop shared insights into Pope Francis’ life, highlighting his humility, simplicity, and commitment to serving the poor.

The Archbishop noted that Pope Francis chose his name in honor of Saint Francis of Assisi, reflecting his preference for humility and simplicity. Pastors from the Presbyterian Church also shared their thoughts, expressing pride that Pope Francis, despite being the head of the Catholic Church, treated all churches with equality and respect. They emphasized that his messages were not limited to the Catholic Church but were meant for all people.
Fr. Qaiser Feroz OFM Cap shared his personal experience of meeting Pope Francis in January 2025. During their encounter, Pope Francis explained the parable of Jesus’ disciples fishing in the lake, emphasizing the importance of hope and trust in God’s guidance.

In his message, Archbishop Travas described Pope Francis as a champion of mercy and peace. The congregation prayed for the eternal rest of the Pope’s soul, asking God to accept his earthly services and grant him peace.
