Learn and follow the vocation of Mother Mary, Bishop Yousaf
Multan: On 28th October 2023, in a solemn and joyous ceremony that gathered the faithful, families and fellow Sisters of the St. Joseph of Chambery congregation, three novices took their first step towards a life of devotion and service to God at the Christ the King Church, Jamilabad-Multan. Anila Emmanuel, Aaimun Amir and Cynthia Tariq made their First Profession of Holy Vows, marking a significant milestone in their spiritual journey. The vows of Chastity, Poverty and Obedience were a testament to their unwavering commitment to following Jesus more closely.
The auspicious occasion was graced by the presence of His Excellency Bishop Yousaf Sohan, Bishop of the Multan Diocese, who presided over the Holy Mass. Joining him were Fr. Denial Taj and Fr. Yaqoob Farooq OP as the con-celebrants, further adding to the spiritual significance of the event. Sr. Shakila Bhatti CSJ, the Region Coordinator of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Chambery Congregation, officiated the ceremony by accepting the Holy Vows from the young novices. The pews of Christ the King Church were filled with a multitude of faithful, who shared in the profound spiritual experience.
The scriptures for the day were thoughtfully selected, offering deep reflection and guidance. The first reading was drawn from the Book of Jeremiah, Chapter One, emphasizing the importance of divine calling and purpose. The second reading was taken from St. Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, Chapter One, highlighting the spiritual blessings bestowed upon the faithful. The Gospel reading, drawn from the book of St. Luke, served as a source of inspiration and guidance for the novices as they embarked on their sacred journey.

During his homily, Bishop Yousaf Sohan conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to the new Sisters and their families for choosing a life of religious dedication. He offered a powerful message of encouragement and faith, drawing from the scriptures to provide insight and inspiration.
Bishop Sohan remarked, “Just as God granted Jeremiah the authority to lead and teach the nation, He bestows authority upon our vocations so that we may live in accordance with His divine will. Take inspiration from the unwavering commitment of Prophet Jeremiah, who faced countless challenges but remained steadfast in his devotion to God.”
He continued, “You can also find guidance and faithfulness in the life of Saint Mary, the Mother of God. I advise you to model your lives after the virtuous example of Holy Mary. Life is bound to present its difficulties, but it is within these challenges that you must persevere in your chosen vocation.”
In his closing remarks, Bishop Sohan encapsulated the essence of the occasion, emphasizing that dedication to a life of faith required unwavering commitment and an unshakable resolve, akin to the exemplary lives of the prophets and saints who have walked the path before. The First Profession of Holy Vows of Anila Emmanuel, Aaimun Amir, and Cynthia Tariq was a testament to their commitment to this sacred journey of devotion and service. The presence of Bishop Yousaf Sohan and the faithful congregation bore witness to this significant step in their spiritual lives.
