Karachi Youth Gather for Day of Prayer and Reflection
Karachi: A one-day retreat for young boys & girls was held at St. Joseph College (for women) on December 13, 2024. The program, titled “Come, Know and Celebrate,” was organized under the supervision of Sr. Elizabeth Niamat, Sr. Catherine James & Maria.
The program began with hymns and prayers. The first speaker, Fr. Robinson Samuel, spoke about the importance of the Advent season, spirituality, and its benefits. Principal Sr. Elizabeth Niamat led the participants in singing hymns and engaging in activities. She emphasized the need for young people to offer themselves for God’s work, to be spiritually awake, and to participate in God’s service and mission.

Sr. Ruhi Ghouri shed light on the importance of self-discovery and perseverance. After the first session, all participants received a copy of the New Testament Bible as a gift from Sr. Elizabeth, presented by Sr. Ruhi.
The second session featured Fr. Afzal Gulfam, who spoke about the true meaning of Christmas. He emphasized the importance of accepting and loving one another, just as God accepts and loves us. Fr. Gulfam shared the story of Zacchaeus, who was transformed after encountering Jesus.
The program concluded with a Holy Hour, attended by all the young participants. The purpose of the retreat was to inspire spiritual awakening among young people and to encourage them to discover their calling and participate in God’s mission.
