Father Yousuf Amanat: A Life of Service
Fr. Yousuf Amanat, born on 13th January 1966, in Skanderabad, Mariakhel (Our Lady of Conception Parish Mariakhel), emerged as a beacon of service and devotion within the Catholic community of Pakistan. His journey from humble beginnings to becoming a respected clergyman is a testament to his unwavering commitment to faith and community.
Early Life and Education
Fr. Yousuf Amanat was born to parents ‘Amanat and Razia Bibi’ as the 4th child among six sisters & five brothers. After completing his matriculation in Iskandarabad, he pursued Diploma in Commerce earned from Sargodha Commerce College.
Priestly Education and Ordination
In 1992, Fr. Yousaf embarked on his priestly education journey, enrolling at St. Mary’s Seminary in Lahore. His thirst for theological knowledge led him to Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome, where he earned a degree in Philosophy. Further studies took him to the University of Lyon in France, where he attained a Theology degree. His ordination to the Diaconate took place on 28th May 2001, by the then Bishop Anthony Theodore Lobo in France marked the beginning of his sacred service. And after his Ordination as Diaconate, he served as a secretary in the Bishop’s office in Rawalpindi. Later, during his service, he was the administrator of St. Francis Xavier Parish in Sargodha until he was appointed as the parish priest. He was ordained to the priesthood on 8th December 2001 by His Excellency Bishop Anthony Theodore Lobo at St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Lalkarti-Rawalpindi.

Ministry and Leadership
Fr. Amanat’s ministry unfolded across various parishes, each marked by his dedication and leadership. He served as an assistant rector and caretaker parish priest in several locations, including Lalazar Rawalpindi and St. Joseph Parish in Josephabad District, Khushab. His tenure as Parish Priest in parishes like St. Michael Parish in Peshawar Cantt and St. Mary Parish in Satellite Town Rawalpindi showcased his pastoral acumen and deep-rooted faith.
Contributions Beyond the Parish
Fr. Amanat’s impact extended beyond parish boundaries, as evidenced by his involvement in various commissions. He served as Director of Vocations Commission, Catechist Commission and Caritas Pakistan Islamabad-Rawalpindi Diocese which showed his organizational prowess and commitment to advancing the Church’s mission. Additionally, his membership in the Bishops’ Council and Diocesan Core Committee underscored his leadership within the Catholic hierarchy.
