Fr. John William laid to rest

Rawalpindi (Efraheem Matthew): A number of priests from across Pakistan, led by Archbishop Ghaleb Moussa Abdalla Bader, Apostolic Nuncio to Pakistan, Bishop Joseph Arshad several religious and hundreds of lay faithful, including family members, friends and associates of the late priest turned out to pay their last respect at a requiem mass held in his honor at St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Rawalpindi on January 12, 2017.

In his highly emotional homily at St. Joseph’s Cathedral Rawalpindi Bishop Joseph Arshad described the late Fr. John William as a very jovial personality whose pleasant disposition would be highly missed by all. “In the diocese of Islamabad-Rawalpindi, he was well loved by all priests.”

His Lordship while consoling priests, similarly consoled relatives, sisters and relations.

He said the deceased was very devoted to Mother Mary and served as a priest since forty years, he continued.

“It was an honor to be a student of Fr. John William for six month in the Seminary, he was a great teacher”

“Pray for the deceased,” he enjoined, “and for yourselves, for no one knows the time and hour when death shall come knocking. Fr. John is in heaven with our Lord Jesus Christ,” he ended.

Fr. John William known with his nick name Fr. Johnny was born on November 3, 1950 at Khushab. He was ordained priest on April 14, 1977 and working as parish priest at St. John Vianney Catholic Church Peshawar. He passed away on January 10, 2017 by heart attack.
