Dominicans in Bahawalpur Welcomes Leaders from Rome
Bahawalpur (Fr. Younas Shahzad OP): On 15th October 2024, the Dominican Community of Bahawalpur was honored to receive two esteemed visitors from Rome, Fr. Cristóbal Torres OP, General Promotor of the Dominican Laity, and Fr. Jamshed Albert OP, Assistant of the Master of the Order for Asia Pacific. Their 10-day visit to Pakistan aimed to connect with the Dominican family in the region.
Warm Welcome
Fr. Azhar Lal OP, Prior of St. Dominic’s Priory and Principal of Dominican Convent Boys Higher Secondary School, extended a warm welcome to the guests. The school band performed, and students presented flowers to the visitors, setting a joyful tone for the gathering.

Inspiring Presentations
Fr. Cristóbal delivered an enlightening presentation on the Lay Dominicans as pilgrimage, emphasizing their spiritual journey. Fr. Jamshed shared statistics on the Dominican Family in Asia Pacific and highlighted the vital role of the Laity in the Church and the Dominican Family.
Active Participation
The event saw enthusiastic participation from Dominican Sisters, teachers, and Lay Dominican members. Miss Sumera Asher expertly prepared the school kids, while Miss Rubina Sohail skillfully commentedated the program.
Gratitude and Fellowship
Fr. Younas Shahzad OP, Parish Priest of St. Dominic Parish and Religious Assistant of the Dominican Laity Group, expressed gratitude to the guests and participants. The gathering concluded with a shared lunch, fostering camaraderie among all attendees.
This significant visit strengthened bonds within the Dominican family and revitalized the spirit of the Lay Dominicans in Pakistan.
