Closure of the Diocesan Inquiry of Akash Bashir
Lahore: On March 15, 2024, during the observance of the 9th Anniversary of Akash Bashir’s martyrdom, a significant milestone was achieved in his Beatification and Canonization process within the Archdiocese of Lahore. Archbishop Sebastian Francis Shaw presided over the concluding session of the diocesan inquiry, accompanied by esteemed clergy members including Fr. Amjad Yousaf, Episcopal Delegate, Fr. Rafhan Fayyaz, Promoter of Justice, and Fr. Patrick Samuel OFM Cap., Notary. The formal presentation and authentication of Original Acts, Transcripts, and Public Copy marked a pivotal moment in this ecclesiastical endeavor.
Following the authentication process, His Grace Archbishop Germano Penernote, Apostolic Nuncio to Pakistan, assumed the responsibility of dispatching these authenticated documents to the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints in Rome. With the administration of solemn oaths and the sealing of proceedings, Archbishop Sebastian Francis Shaw and other officials pledged to uphold confidentiality in the interest of the Church’s welfare.
