CSJ Jubilee and St. Joseph’s Feast Celebrated with Holy Mass in Lahore

Lahore (Sr. Sumaira CSJ): A special Holy Mass was held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Lahore on March 19, 2025, to commemorate the Feast of St. Joseph and the 375 Years Jubilee of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Chambery. The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr. Asif Sardar, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Lahore.

The occasion was graced by the presence of CSJ Associates, CSJ youth group, and staff and students of Don Bosco High School, who joined in the joyful celebration.

First reading was taken from the 2nd Book of Samuel, while second reading from the letter of St. Paul to Roman and the Gospel was taken from the Gospel of St. Matthew.

In his homily, Fr. Asif emphasized the significance of St. Mary & St. Joseph’s roles in human salvation, highlighting their loyalty as a key virtue. During the celebration of St. Joseph’s feast with the Sisters of St. Joseph of Chambery, Fr. Asif noted that we are surrounded by two types of voices: spiritual and worldly.

The worldly voice promotes dishonesty and hatred, whereas God’s voice advocates for life, goodness, and compassion. St. Joseph’s silence is a remarkable quality, as he listens to God’s voice, contemplates His blessings, and dedicates himself to fulfilling God’s purpose.

Fr. Asif encouraged the congregation to adopt St. Joseph’s silence in prayer, listening to God’s voice rather than their own. This year, designated as the Year of Hope, the Sisters of St. Joseph have aptly chosen the theme “Walking Together in Hope.” Fr. Asif urged everyone to walk together, hand in hand, listening to God’s voice and fulfilling their roles in hope and loyalty, just as St. Joseph did. By doing so, we can make a positive impact on the world around us.

Rev. Sr. Shakila CSJ, Coordinator of the Region of Pakistan, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to God for the global presence of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Chambery as an international apostolic congregation. She noted that the Jubilee year 2025, themed “Pilgrims of Hope,” marks a significant milestone in the congregation’s 375-year history of fruitful life and service in God’s kingdom.

In Pakistan, the congregation celebrates 75 years of life in mission, and Sr. Shakila prayed that God may continue to bless their congregation and mission, enabling them to be a leaven of unity and love in a wounded world.

The celebration concluded with the cutting of a cake, symbolizing the joy and gratitude of the occasion.
