Communion is a gift, when Jesus gives himself to you, Fr. Tariq George
Gujranwala (Fr. Tariq George): There were 190 children who received their first Holy Communion from Fr. Tariq George at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Chan-da-Qilla in Gujranwala on November 17, 2016. Fr. Tariq George was the principal celebrant at the Mass while Fr. Emmanuel Ahmad was con-celebrant. St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Chan da Qilla is a part of St. Joseph’s Parish, Gujranwala comes under Archdiocese of Lahore.
In receiving the Body and Blood of Christ, a new chapter of spiritual growth is initiated with the hope that they will grow in knowing the Lord deeper through the guidance of their parents, siblings and the Catholic Community as a whole.
In his address to the communicants, Fr. Tariq stressed that they must continue to learn to know the meaning of the Body and Blood of Christ by receiving the Eucharist every week and whenever an opportunity comes.
Today, you will come close to Jesus in a way like never before? Although you do not see Him like the boys and girls 2000 years ago, through your faith and knowing what you have been taught about Jesus and Holy Communion, you believe in Him and know Him. We are not missing out on anything living at this time. We remember what Jesus said to Saint Thomas after He rose from the dead: “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen, yet have come to believe.” (John 20.29)
“Communion is a gift from God, when Jesus gives himself to you, he lives in you like never before, in a new way. Every time you come to Mass and receive Communion, Jesus lives in you, he feeds you, strengthens you, gives you his peace and gives you courage for the hard things you might experience in life” he ended.
“May Jesus in the Eucharist always be the very center and heart of our church, the center and heart of our faith, the center and heart of our parish, and the center and heart of the lives of each of us” he ended.
