Appointment of Fr. Joseph Saleem as Nunciature Secretary
Vatican City (Agahi News): Fr. Joseph Saleem has been appointed as the Secretary of the Apostolic Nunciature of El Salvador Central America, according to an announcement made on July 4, 2023, by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Vatican. Fr. Joseph Saleem belongs to the Archdiocese of Karachi, Pakistan. He was born in Karachi on June 19, 1987.
Fr. Joseph Saleem embarked on his journey towards priesthood in 2005 when he commenced his initial formation at St. Pius X Minor Seminary, Karachi. He successfully completed his philosophy studies at St. Francis Xavier Seminary, Youhanabad-Lahore. Building upon this foundation, he pursued theological studies and was subsequently sent to the renowned Pontifical Urbaniana University, Rome where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Theology. Furthering his academic pursuits, he attained a degree in Canon Law from the same esteemed institution.
The culmination of Fr. Joseph’s dedicated efforts came to fruition on December 8, 2017, when he was ordained as a priest in the Archdiocese of Karachi. Since then, he has diligently served in various positions within the Archdiocese of Karachi, displaying his unwavering commitment to his vocation.
In August 2020, recognizing his potential for diplomatic endeavors, he was chosen to undergo specialized training at the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy. Demonstrating his intellectual prowess, he successfully completed his diplomatic training and was awarded a Doctorate degree in Canon Law in June 2021.
Furthermore, Fr. Joseph had the privilege of gaining practical experience as an intern at the Apostolic Nunciature, further enriching his understanding of the complexities of diplomatic relations. Now, as he assumes the role of Secretary of the Apostolic Nunciature, Fr. Joseph Saleem brings with him a wealth of knowledge, experience, and a steadfast commitment to serving the Church.
