Lahore: On 16th December 2024, a day of prayer was organized for the clergy of the Archdiocese of Lahore at Bishop’s House, Lahore.

A solemn Holy Mass was presided over by His Grace Archbishop Benny Mario Travas, Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Lahore at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Lahore. He was joined by Fr. The clergy of the archdiocese participated in the holy mass with great devotion. The first reading, taken from the 24th chapter of Numbers, was read by Fr. Lazar Aslam OFM Cap, while the Gospel, taken from the 21st chapter of the Gospel of St. Matthew, was read by Fr. Amjad Yousaf.

In his homily, the Archbishop emphasized the authority of the Church, referring to the Gospel of the day. “We are the people of authority in our archdiocese,” he said. “You are an authority in your parishes. If you are in school, you are a person of authority.”

The Archbishop reflected on St. Augustine’s sermon “On Pastors.” He quoted: “Often even a strong sheep, seeing its leader living a wicked life, will turn from contemplation of the laws of the Lord to the behavior of the man and say to itself, ‘If my leader lives thus, who am I that I should do things differently?’ In that way, the shepherd is killing the strong sheep: and if the strong, then what of the rest?”

The Archbishop addressed the clergy, saying, “Dear brothers, we are reminded that we are the people of authority. Let us set good examples so that our flock may follow us. Amen.”

Later, Fr. Qaiser Feroz OFM Cap and Fr. Akhtar presented traditional shawls and caps to the Archbishop.

At the end, the Archbishop cut a cake along with the clergy who celebrated their ordination and birthday during the month of December.

Fr. Clarence Hayat OFM Cap prepared and led the prayer sessions for the day.
