First 02-days Marian Convention at Immaculate Conception Church Anarkali, Lahore
Lahore (Babu Arshad Yaqub): On September 25-26, 2021, the first 02-days Marian Convention was organized at Immaculate Conception Church Anarkali, Lahore. September 25, (day 01) was started with the recitation of Holy Rosary led by the Rosary Group of the Parish. His Grace Archbishop Sebastian Francis Shaw, Archbishop of Lahore was the main celebrant on the 1st day and he was warmly welcomed by the parishioner with the local traditional way with flower petals & the beat of a drum.
Homily by the Archbishop:
In homily, the Archbishop quoted various verses from the Holy Bible on the devotion & mercy of the Blessed Virgin Mary. He said that when the Blessed Virgin Mary attended the marriage of Cana Galilee with His Son. The family had run out of wine and Mary took pity on them. Then She told her son to do something, Jesus obeyed and transformed water into wine. He also exhorted the parishioners to live a merciful life so that they could attain nearness to God.
Sacrament of Confirmation and closing Blessings
96 parishioners were also sealed in the Sacrament of Confirmation during the Mass by His Grace Archbishop Sebastian Francis Shaw. Holy Rosaries were distributed amongst the elders belonging to the parish and were given special blessings by the Archbishop was given to further promote the devotion and worship of the Holy Mary in the church.
Later at the end, the healing service was led by Fr. Samson Dilawar, Parish Priest was also organized.
Day 02, September 26
Sunday, September 26, day 02 started with the Holy Rosary service which was presented in dramatic form followed by the Eucharist Mass, presided over by Fr. Almas John while Fr. Samson Dilawar, Fr. Zafar Tanveer Parish Priest Sheikhupura Parish were the concelebrants. In his homily, Fr. Zafar Tanveer, paid a rich tribute to Mother Mary on the theme ‘Holy Mary: Source of Mercy’. He said that Holy Mary is a source of mercy because she prays for intercession in front of Her Son in every way and we believers always intercede with Holy Mary through prayer. In the end, children performed a beautiful tableau during the coronation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Later, Fr. Samson Dilawar, Parish Priest, thanked Clergy, Catechists, Elders, all groups, and Punjab Police to make the convention a success.
