by Suzanna Joseph
Lahore: On April 10, 2021, Annual General Meeting of Pakistan Bible Society staff along with the catholic commission was held at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Lahore. After the meeting, the launching ceremony of the Holy Bible in Punjabi language was organized at the Cathedral.
The first speaker was grateful for all those who were present and those joining through live stream. He continued saying, “We are here to commemorate the first ever, one of a kind book launch of Holy Bible in Punjabi. May our efforts be used for the praise and glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Every one gave a standing ovation as the Holy Bible was brought towards the Altar by children. They were dressed in Punjabi cultural outfits followed by those carrying candles. Meanwhile the choir sang hymns of praise as music filled the air.
Father Asi in his opening comments said, “Our Lord, Merciful Father we praise and adore you. Over the years the message of Christianity has been widely spread in several languages. We are very grateful today as we celebrate the launch of the Holy Bible in Punjabi as well. We are also thankful to those who have put a lot of effort in translating and the services of the Catholic commission. Our Father bless us as we listen to the Gospel with great devotion.”
Later Bishop Irfan Jamil also stepped onto the podium saying, “Every year Pakistan Bible Society has a number of tasks and translating the Holy Bible in Punjabi is one of its many fruits. Although most of us are present here. There are some very important members who have completed their earthly journey, let us recall them and pause for a moment of silence to pray.”
“Our Merciful Father we give thanks, for you have blessed us with innumerable skills. As these abilities come to fruition we joyfully read from the Punjabi Gospel for the praise and glory of your name” he continued.
The ceremony ended as His Excellency Bishop Dr. Indrias Rehmat, Bishop of Faisalabad, graced the staff of Bible Society with Garlands.
